First Words · Privacy policy
Nothing leaves the device.
First Words is a first-words app for young children on iPhone and iPad by HeyLabs (Vaibhav Singh). It has no account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no links a child can follow out of the app. It works without an internet connection.
This policy is written for parents. Effective: 13 October 2026.
What we collect
Nothing. The app does not send any information to us or to anyone else, and it contains no third-party analytics or advertising code.
What stays on your device
- Which words your child has heard, the games they have finished and the stickers they have earned.
- Settings: the language, and the play time limit if you set one.
- Family photos and voice recordings, if a grown-up adds them. They are kept in the app’s own storage and are never uploaded.
If you have Apple’s device backup turned on, this data is included in your normal backup, under your own Apple account. We cannot see it.
Photos and the microphone
Both are used only on the grown-ups’ screen, which sits behind a sum a young child cannot answer. A family photo is one a grown-up picks; the app sees only that photo and not the rest of the library. The microphone is used only while a grown-up records a name, and only after iOS has asked for permission.
Purchases
Unlocking all categories is an optional one-time purchase, sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. It is not a subscription. The app checks on the device, using Apple’s StoreKit, whether it has been bought. We never see your card or other payment details.
Children
First Words is made for children, so it is built to need no personal information at all. It does not ask for a name, email address, phone number, contacts or location.
Deleting your data
Family photos and recordings can be removed one by one on the grown-ups’ screen. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
Changes
If this policy changes, this page will be updated. Last updated: 13 October 2026.
